The Global Learning Association (Company number 7468905) is a co-operative network which supports a range of professionals who have a role in supporting the international and/or global dimension in education. It was registered in 2012 as the not-for-profit trading arm of the UK Global Association for Schools, founded in 1996 and registered as a charity in the UK (registration number: 1063668). Our registered office is now in Derbyshire but for many years it was in the north of England, near to the city of Hull and the Humber Bridge pictured above.
The overall mission of the GLA is to support the membership as they work with schools and school networks to develop an international outlook and prepare their learners for life in an increasingly globalised society. The Association works closely with the British Council both in the UK and overseas, EU information providers and the Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning Programme. Regular inputs from these organisations and opportunities for networking are part of the benefits of membership. The current membership include international education consultants, Local Authority international co-ordinators and Advisers, workers from Development Education Centres and languages specialists. Many of our Associates are qualified teachers and some have recent experience of headships or other management posts in Education. In these roles, many have been responsible for contributing to or coordinating previous successful European projects as well as writing and delivering training for teachers and others. Current and recent involvement in training by GLA Associates includes eTwinning in Poland and Ukraine; classroom English for non-specialist linguists in the UK; International Dimension Training in Oxfordshire and delivery of courses for UK teachers on Global Learning and for teachers from other EU countries on a range of educational themes. |
