Digital responses to art

This section of the website aims to show how educators have used digital tools to enhance art education in the classroom.

Digital books enable teachers (and pupils) to construct and share their own resources. The National University of Ireland, Galway has been a leader in this field and is our first exemplar in this section.

Classroom Art

Seán Ó Grádaigh and Áine Uí Ghrádaigh are the authors of 'Classroom Art'. “Seán Ó Grádaigh is a Lecturer in Teacher Education in the School  of Education, National University of Ireland, Galway. Áine Uí Ghrádaigh is a primary-level teacher and a B.Ed graduate  of St. Patrick’s College of Education, Dublin.

Some artists use digital tools and devices to create and capture images. One of the most well known is the UK artist David Hockney (1937 - ) who began to use an iPad and stylus in 2010. Hockney's work also spans more conventional art and photography and can be seen online and at many major galleries around the world. Tate Kids has produced 'Who is David Hockney' to support art education.

Note:
Finding copyright free digital images:  'Pixabay' offers thousands of free images and has a large digital section. Users are encouraged to attribute the images used. The image above is from a Brazilian artist called
Nato Pereira.
